Visioneca - A New Kind of Film Festival

On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October 2012, Visioneca will feature unconventional ‘film’ makers: new media artists, researchers, motion-graphics artists, music-promo directors and performance artists at Fort Redoubt, Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight UK

There will be short talks and introductions to various aspects of how artists have created experimental explorations of the moving image over the last century or so, and we will show examples of experimental film and digital media that will be new to many viewers.

Visioneca will strive to make this work accessible to non-specialist and non-academic newcomers to this important and inspirational alternative history of film and motion image and our presentations will be short and digestible, aimed at newcomers to this sector of art.

We believe that the best way of introducing new work is in the context of the broader more conventional story of Film and we want to engage with an audience of younger people whose knowledge of this context is necessarily limited.

We want to cover the important developments in audio-visual and filmic art that are not usually addressed in the school curriculum.

We are aware that the current iterations of experimental work in motion-image and film-making have considerable implications for the UK creative industries generally, and that Visioneca will aim to provide new and useful overviews and insights for content developers - from conventional broadcasters and publishers to mobile service providers, online broadband services, marketeers, and all others working in the information and communication sectors.

The story of experimental film is ongoing - the filmic media are being reinvented as we speak, Visioneca will provide an inspirational and informative briefing on both the back-story and the developing future of Film. Come and join us.
